Tips for shopping for your wedding gown: Whether you have picked the date and venue for your big day or have just recently gotten engaged, the process of looking for the perfect gown is always the most exciting yet the most difficult for the bride-to-be. Here are some tips that might help make it a bit easier and more enjoyable for you:
- We recommend for you to start by researching through magazines, websites or other resources for styles that might be of interest to you.
- Cut out pictures you like and bring them along when you visit the bridal salon to show to the consultant.
- Discuss your wedding (theme, venue, time of year, etc) with the consultant so that she can recommend different styles that might be suitable for you to try.
- Keep an open mind and try on different styles and silhouettes, even those you’ve never thought of wearing for your big day… you never know.
- Bring one companion along (or maximum two, but never the entire family or bridal party!) when visiting the bridal stores, preferably someone who knows you well and whose opinion means the most to you.
- After visiting a few stores, try to recap and shortlist a few pieces that really stick with you and revisit those stores. Avoid visiting every single store you know of because too many might just confuse you.
- Finally, don’t get overstressed over small details and try to enjoy the process. You will definitely look beautiful on your special day! Just keep smiling…
Other useful wedding tips:
- Book your ideal venue as early as possible once you’ve picked the auspicious date to avoid disappointment. Consider the time of the year when thinking about an outdoor wedding.
- After your make-up trial session, ask for someone to take your picture. Make sure you like the way you look in person as well as the way you look on film.
- Once you've chosen your gown and veil, schedule a hair trial. Your wedding day hair-do should complement your dress in sophistication and work with the headpiece.
- Choose the song that’s special to both of you to make it more memorable.
- If you want to take wedding photographs before the big event, remember to factor that in your timeline and be sure to let your bridal salon know so that they can help you to plan your order and fitting schedule ahead of time.
